Setting up website or app

Websites and apps must comply with detailed legal regulations. These include general terms and conditions, information requirements and the ordering process.

The design of websites, apps and other online services must meet many requirements. For example, the result must be:
  • be attractive and user-friendly;
  • easily found by users;
  • are optimally equipped; and
  • be safe and reliable.
In addition, apps and websites must also comply with laws and regulations. The law contains a comprehensive, detailed set of rules for online services and sales of products and services.

Especially strict rules apply when doing business online with consumers (B2C). These include information requirements, transparency in price reporting and return policy.

You should also take into account specific regulations, licensing requirements or codes of conduct regarding advertising, influencers, online promotions and games of chance, medical devices, financial services, online sales of alcohol, the use of social media and the prohibition of discrimination based on nationality or location (geoblocking).

Consider further rules for using social plugins, (new) payment options including Apple Pay or cryptocurrencies and integration with loyalty programs.

Integration of legal aspects - lawful by design

Frequently, legal aspects are not considered until late, or not at all, in the design and development process of a website or app.

Failure to comply with laws and regulations does not make a professional impression on your customers. Moreover, there is a risk of substantial fines, liability and lost sales. It is therefore very important to set up websites, apps and other online services correctly. We are happy to guide you in this process.

Among other things, we offer a webshop check and can look at the design of a new website or app as early as the development phase. This applies not only to B2C or C2C, but also to B2B. Your own contract management also deserves attention, partly for the sake of the continuity of the website or app. Have clear and adequate written agreements been made with the external developers about the rights to the website or app? If you regularly have specific questions or want to have documents such as general terms and conditions or a privacy and cookie statement drawn up or reviewed, our help desk may be the answer.
