Publisher

In the rapidly changing landscape of publishing, where paper is gradually giving way to pixels, we know the legal intricacies of both traditional and online publishing.

/VIEWALL SECTORS

In this sector at the heart of our knowledge economy, we can support publishers to publish and distribute their valuable works with confidence. We also have extensive experience in assisting companies that (wish to) provide adjacent services, such as media monitoring companies, which can sometimes lead to discussions with rights holders.

Consulting

Our advice ranges from the traditional aspects of publishing law to the specific nuances of online publishing. We understand the value of content in all its forms and its protection through copyright law (and, conditionally, database law). With a particular focus on online publishing, we advise our clients on the protection and exploitation of digital works and navigating the complex world of licensing, copyright and regulatory issues surrounding digital media.

Compliance

With increasing regulations, for example around AI, the AVG and product safety, compliance is increasingly important. We guide clients to ensure that they do not get into trouble and help them as soon as something has gone wrong. This includes recall actions and discussions with the NVWA (Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority).

Commercial contracts

We assist publishers and other market participants in drafting clear and robust contracts, including publishing agreements, licensing agreements and digital distribution agreements. Our team is experienced in advising on and drafting agreements covering the myriad ways in which content is shared and exploited, including in the form of e-books, online articles, databases and other digital formats.

Disputes

When publishers face disputes, such as copyright infringement or licensing disputes, we are ready to act decisively and expertly. Our team has extensive experience in protecting the rights of publishers or other market participants, whether in traditional print or the latest digital publishing platforms. But equally, we assist parties who are (wrongly) accused of infringement. Partly due to legislative initiatives, new legal issues arise again that can only be answered with thorough knowledge of copyright and (press) publishing law and the statutory exceptions.

Presentations/Training

We recognize the importance of continuous education in an industry that is constantly changing. That's why we offer presentations and training that inform publishers and other market participants about the latest developments in IP law, digital media and the protection of content published online.
